The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) recently recognized 41 MyHealth First Network practices that achieved Gold Status for the Target:BP initiative. Launched in 2017, the Target: BP Recognition Program is an extension of Target: BP™—a national initiative between the American Heart Association and American Medical Association aimed at addressing the growing burden of high blood pressure in the U.S. More than 1,100 physician practices and health systems nationwide have joined Target: BP™, sharing a common goal to reduce the number of adult patients with uncontrolled blood pressure and improve health outcomes associated with heart disease.
Of the 310 clinics recognized for their achievements in the Target:BP initiative, only 185 were recognized at the Gold level. Practices that received Gold Status successfully brought more than 70% of their patients with hypertension to control—an impactful achievement. MyHFN is pleased to have 41 of the 185 Gold Status practices within the network and proud of the long-term results of these efforts which should lead to a reduction in the number of patients who will suffer heart attacks and strokes.
